Wise is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to architect resilient payment settlement engines connecting European SEPA instant schemes with global banking networks.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and deploy high-performance applications using Java, Kotlin, PostgreSQL.
- Participate in technical architecture reviews, engineering discussions, and sprint planning.
- Maintain high code quality standards through automated testing, peer code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to translate customer feedback into production-grade features.
Requirements
- 5+ years building distributed transactional systems in Java or Kotlin
- Deep knowledge of event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka
- Experience with database partitioning, zero-downtime migrations, and PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with financial messaging standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA)
